Music 345: Pop/Folk Influences in Music  

You have two library-related assignments for this course:

• A "bibliographic refresher" of questions put together by Dr. Hanson.  This assignment will introduce you to some new resources in music as well as show you how to use familiar sources in new ways.

• An 8-10 page paper in which you:
  
  • Select a composition (not studied in class) of art music that was influenced by folk or popular music
  • Research the work's context within
    
    • the composer's output
    • the genres and topics studied in class
  • Analyze the music and, if applicable, text
  • Devise a thesis based upon the above findings
