Biblical Research

Exegesis: According to the Anchor Bible Dictionary, exegesis refers to "the process of careful, analytical study of biblical passages undertaken in order to produce useful interpretations of those passages."

This analysis includes a study of the text or translation of the text, literary context (genre, authorship, etc.), historical context, theological content, and sometimes a comparison to other literature of the same time and area of the world.
