Google Maps Template
For the demo session, make a copy of the Google Sheet template to your drive.
- Google Sheet Blank TemplateMake sure to delete the placeholder example information on the first row
Class Map
After creating your spreadsheet and adding a few points, import the spreadsheet to the class map using the instructions in the slidedeck.
Data Entry Guidelines
General Spreadsheet Entry
- Some automatic formatting in the Google Sheet may not reflect on the Google Maps side. This is okay!
- After adding the spreadsheet to the map, make sure to add updates to the map. Adding more data to the spreadsheet will usually not sync to the map side.
Latitude and Longitude Coordinates
- Only numbers in the lat/long columns!
- Do not include the degree sign, N, S, E, or W
- North and East = positive numbers
- South and West = negative numbers
- Please check the template for formatting examples!
Google Maps
- Be careful about deleting! Google Maps does not have versioning and we can't recover accidentally deleted information.
- When entering data in Google Maps, make sure you select the layer first that you want to edit before adding more information
