Our Nordic-American Imprints Collection is one of the largest known collections containing Nordic language materials (primarily Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish) published within the United States. Many of the items in this collection are some of our most fragile because they were printed on the acidic wood pulp paper commonly used in the mid-19th and early-20th centuries. This paper chips and fragments easily.
From settler's guides to children's books, the NAI collection documents this history of Norwegian Americans adapting to their new country while preserving their heritage.
