Recordings of Women's Organ Music
A good recording is invaluable when you are choosing new repertoire. Here are some suggested recordings of women's organ music.
- 2000 Nails, perf. Michael Bonaventure -- includes music by Avril Anderson and Judith Weir
- Cecilia McDowall: Works for Organ, perf. William Fox
- Decker Plays Decker, Vol. 1 -- There are actually five volumes of Pamela Decker playing her own organ works. This is just this first; be sure to search for the others as well.
- Divine Euterpe: 15th-20th Century Organ Music by Women Composers, perf. Kimberley Marshall
- Legacy: Laura Ellis Plays Organ Works of Jeanne Demessieux
- Pipedreams -- search the radio show's playlists for "women" to find multiple episodes featuring women's music and women organists
These are full albums of women's music, but there are many more recordings that feature one or two works by women. Be sure to search composers by name in Naxos Music Library and Music Online to find these recordings of individual pieces.
