Gaming, Streaming, and Content Creation

LibGuide/toolkit for users who want to create channels or content that is streaming video games

The Gaming Lab

The Gaming Lab is currently located in Rolvaag Memorial Library in RML 449A. This space can be accessed by checking the key out from the front desk. In the space, we have:

  • Yeti Mic for recording audio
  • Omen HP 40L Windows 11 Gaming Computer
  • RGB/Configuration keyboard compatible with Logitech G Hub
  • Logitech Litra Glow LED Streaming Light
  • Loupedeck Stream Deck (available in Library Equipment checkout)
  • HTC Vive VR Setup
  • USB wired controller for controller users!
  • A chair for support and working on long projects!
  • An ergonomic standing desk
  • Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Suite software for editing content (ie. Premiere)

Because there is a lot of moisture that comes out of the vents, we have a dehumidifiers in the space:

  • Equipment cabinet - this cabinet is to hold any equipment for the space. This cabinet has it's own environmental control to protect equipment for moisture.
  • Black & Decker dehumidifier - there may be a white dehumidifier that will occasionally run in the space. This can be shut off if the noise picks up on recordings, but please make sure to turn it back on. This will also prevent any moisture from getting into the computer components on the Omen desktop.

For assistance with setting up or using the equipment, contact the DiSCO

The computer in the room is PC/Windows only. For information on MacOS or mobile gaming options, contact the DiSCO.

Video game consoles (PS4, Nintendo mini, etc.) will be made available for checkout through the Circulation Desk. Any games in disc format can also be checked out through the library.

**Please Note: If using the Game Lab, please leave the space the way as you found it. This room follows the food and drink policies of the library. If there are any damages to the space, this could result in the room being taken offline until repairs are complete.**

Software: Can I install a game on the computer?

To request a new game for the computer, fill out a Software Request form and include that it's for the Game Room computer.

Couple of tips on installing software on the computer:

  • Please check the computer before installing the games to avoid duplicate installs! This may cause problems with the machine.
  • IT/DiSCO reserves the right to delete any game or data from the computer if:
    • Storage is full - any games and data that have not been accessed for more than 1 semester will be deleted
    • The game is impacting the functionality of the computer

Do not install game mods, emulators, or bootleg software on this computer. It will most likely result in the computer needing to be wiped and reset.
