I have questions! Who do I contatct for help?
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Sara Lynnore (sara@stolaf.edu) by email to set up an appointment. We can do either in-person or virtual. Staffed hours are typically:

Log Into ArcGIS Online
It is recommended to use Chrome when using ArcGIS Online!
Safari frequently causes error messages in web-based programs (like Moodle and ArcGIS Online). If you receive an error message in Safari, switch to Chrome or Firefox will almost always resolve the issues.
You will receive a notification email to activate your account for ArcGIS Online! Make sure to click on the link in the email - the notification will be valid for 14 days after you receive it.
Start a Story Map & Story Map tips
- Citation Examples #1 - Coral Reef BleachingImage citations in Tour pop-ups, bibliography at the end of the Story Map
- Citation Example #2 - Exploration GuideSubscript or footnote numbers to create citation links

Add historical maps or annotate images
Couple of notes:
- Please check the copyright and usage of any image that you use!
- Only the black background is currently available for this process
- This should work in any of the Map Tour type formats in Story Maps
- Currently, we can only add points (not lines or shapes) as annotations
- Only PNG or JPEG files that are a file size of 10MB or less - there may be some unavoidable image distortion
If you don't want to annotate or add features - you can just add the map as a plain image to Story Maps directly! This process is only needed if the picture needs to be interactive.
Sharing and Publishing Your Story Map
Share your project to the Film and Media Production 220, Fall 2024 Group!
In order for your project to be access for grading, you must share it to the ArcGIS Online and mark the share settings as either "Organization Only" or "Public".
- You don't have to wait until you are finished in order to share the map to the group! You can share it to the group at any time and continue editing the project.
- If your project settings are still set to "private" and shared to the group - the project may appear in the group, but no one will be able to access it.
