NYT Academic Pass FAQs

How do I register for a NYT Academic Pass?

Register at the following link with your @stolaf.edu email account: https://nytimesineducation.com/access-nyt/st-olaf-college-northfield-mn/

Because this resource is restricted to St. Olaf faculty, staff, and students, you will first be directed to a St. Olaf login page. You will then be taken to the New York Times registration form where you will click on "Create Account." Faculty, staff, and student access is valid for 364 days from the date you activate it.  See below for instructions on re-activating your account. If you have any problems registering, please contact NYT help at edu@nytimes.com.

I am a returning Academic Pass user. How do I log in?

Once you have registered your St. Olaf account, you can log in from any device.

I registered for the Academic Pass but NYT is telling me that I don't have content access.

Faculty and staff Academic Pass registration expires 4 years after you activate it. To re-activate it, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the St. Olaf NYT page. You may be first prompted to log in with your St. Olaf ID and password. You will then be redirected to the NYT welcome page.
  2. On the welcome page, click on "Already have an account? Log in here"
  3. Log in with existing NYT username and password.

Once completed, you will regain NYT access with your NYT login. You will not need to go through the St. Olaf NYT page again (except once every 4 years to renew).

Can I keep my Academic Pass after graduation?

If you are a student, your Academic Pass will expire upon graduation.

Will my Academic Pass work on mobile?

Yes! Your pass includes access to access to the mobile NYT app. If you run into an error where your subscription works on a desktop browser but not in the NYT app, uninstall and reinstall the app to resume access.
