Primary Document Searching
Searching for Primary Documents: The easiest way to search for primary documents is to include words such as "diary", "correspondence", "letters", "speeches", "biography", etc. in your search terms. You may also use the filters on the left side of your results screen and select Genre, then Sources.
Keywords vs Subjects
Keyword: the vocabulary you already have, i.e. what you think of when you sit down to do a search.
Subject: the technical vocabulary that librarians use to classify everything in the catalog. Here's an example:
