- Once you have a good handle on the information you have found, construct a thesis statement.
- Review thesis statement using the criteria from the UNC web page.
- Do I answer the question?
- Have I taken a position that others might challenge or oppose?
- Is my thesis statement specific enough?
- Does my thesis pass the “how and why?” test?
- Does my thesis pass the “So what?” test
- And, it's always a good idea to have a consultation with one of the writing tutors.
