Documenting COVID-19 and our St. Olaf Community's Experience

College Archives COVID-19 Archiving Project

Distinctive Collections Engagement Librarian

We are living in an historic moment. As a result of this global pandemic, our life on the Hill has been disrupted. Students have returned home and classes have transitioned to online. Our staff and faculty work remotely in order to preserve social distance and lower health risks. Future historians will want to know how we carried on with our daily lives in this time of upheaval.

In order to capture our community's experience, the College Archives invites you to document and share how COVID-19 is impacting you. We encourage you to keep a diary, write poetry, exchange letters, create art, take photos, etc. Reflecting on what you are living through is what is important, not the format. Your story will help contribute to the broader history of St. Olaf College during this time.

We are in a constant state of flux! Please start writing and creating now! We welcome physical and digital deposits to the College Archives.

Donating to College Archives

To donate digital or physical material to College Archives please complete our online submission form. Directions for donating physical materials are included in this form.

In order to help us best describe your material, you will need to fill out the form for each individual item you choose to submit online. If you co-create item with someone (i.e. interview them, write about them in your journal, photograph them), your co-creator will also need to complete our form. By completing the form we will know that they give permission to have material about them donated to our archives.

E-mail us your questions at college_archives@stolaf.edu.

Integration with courses

If you are are interested in having your students donate an assignment as part of your course, please contact Jillian Sparks, who can provide assistance in designing an assignment and ensuring the results can be preserved as part of the historical record.
