Recording Gameplay & StoryMaps

What is OBS?

Open Broadcast Studio (OBS) is a free and open source program that allows you to screen record, stream, and create videos. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux. To use OBS with consoles (Playstation, Switch, or Xbox), you will typically need a video capture card with an HDMI cord hookup to a monitor.

OBS is available in the DiSCO for use, but you can also install the software on your own computer. An account or license is not required. To have OBS installed somewhere on campus other than the DiSCO, contact the IT Helpdesk.

Record to Google Drive

If recording in the DiSCO - make sure to set the recording path to a folder in your Google Drive! That will prevent the video from being saved onto the local computer.

When storing videos and embedding from Google Drive, make sure that the share settings are set to public (anyone with the link).
