In-class Slideshow

Slide 1: PSCI 252 Library Session

Slide 2: What are our goals for today?

  • Review some of the best resources for you to find background information on your state for your case study
  • Learn how to navigate some useful news sources, again for your case study
  • Briefly touch on some databases where you can find scholarly articles (for case study + class leadership session)
  • And take some time along the way to start thinking about your research!

Slide 3: Worktime! Choose your own adventure

  • Some suggestions on how to use this time:
  • Find the state for your case study in Europa World Plus and read about its recent history
  • Start thinking about what developmental factor you want to focus on
  • Try searching for relevant Amnesty International/Human Rights Reports for your state
  • Look up news about and/or from your state in BBC Monitoring Library or Access World News. Do you notice any immediate themes in the headlines?
  • Find one book or scholarly article that is relevant to your research in Catalyst or a database
  • Use a permalink so you can get back to its page!
