DiSCO Resources
Located on the 4th floor of Rolvaag Library, the DiSCO offers space, technology and staff support from both Instructional Technologists and Research & Instruction Librarians for coursework.
Hours
- Monday – Thursday, 8am – 9pm. DiSCOTechs (student staff) and iTech staff
- Friday, 8am – 5pm. DiSCOTechs and iTech staff
- Saturday + Sunday, 12 – 9pm. DiSCOTechs
All of the spaces in the DiSCO are reservable for classes or individual student projects
Hub - 8 computers (four Mac, four Windows) with specialized software including Adobe Creative Cloud
Lab - Classroom with small group work stations
Mix 1&2 - Audio recording suites
Set - Video and VR lab. Also home to Glowforge and 3d Printing technology
Loft - Meeting area with games and DiSCO/CILA book collections
Cave - Makerspace
- Virtual Reality and video production space, with camera, lights, microphone and teleprompter
- Glowforge laser cutter and 3D printing
- Audio recording suites
- Interactive touch panel
- Makerspace with sewing/embroidery and Cricut die cutting machines
- Computers with Adobe Creative Cloud and other media production software and Wacom drawing tablets
Equipment for Checkout
The library circulation desk (3rd floor, below the DiSCO) offers a variety of video, audio and other equipment for checkout. Visit the WebCheckout Equipment site to view and reserve equipment.
Walk-up
Walk-up help at the DiSCO is available during staffed hours (which is also when audio and video rooms are bookable):
- Monday – Thursday, 8am – 9pm. DiSCOTechs (student staff) and iTech staff
- Friday, 8am – 5pm. DiSCOTechs and iTech staff
- Saturday + Sunday, 12 – 9pm. DiSCOTechs
Schedule Consultations
Students, staff and faculty can request a consultation with Instructional Technology staff using the IT Helpdesk. This can be used for:
- One-on-one training
- Course project development
- Assignment feedback or support
- Research support
LinkedIn Learning Online Training
St. Olaf has partnered with the Northfield Public Library to offer Linkedin Learning to all St. Olaf community members for free (along with a wealth of other public library content). To apply for a NPL card, you can submit the request via St. Olaf’s library’s ticketing system and we’ll facilitate this process for you.
