- NCES: National Center for Education StatisticsAn entity within the Department of Education. Collects and analyzes data on the state of education in the U.S. and abroad.
International
- Open Doors OnlineFrom the Institute of International Education, these reports track data on U.S. students studying abroad and foreign students studying in the U.S. back to 2001.
- UNESCO Institute for Statistics: Education"More than 200 countries and territories take part in the UIS annual education survey, which covers all education levels and a range of issues such as gender parity, teachers and financing."
Demographic
- IPEDS: Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System"IPEDS gathers information from every college, university, and technical and vocational institution that participates in the federal student financial aid programs." Look here for data on admissions, tuition rates, enrollment, graduation rates, etc.
- SASS: Schools and Staffing SurveyCollects data to "emphasize teacher demand and shortage, teacher and administrator characteristics, school programs, and general conditions in schools."
- SDDS: School District Demographics SystemAlso from the NCES, this site strives to "provide access to information about demographics, social characteristics, and economics of children and school districts."
- State Education Data ProfilesCompare states on indicators including demographics, finances, enrollment, student/teacher ratios, etc.
- U.S. Census: School EnrollmentAs you would expect, data on enrollment numbers, graduation rates, ethnicity, etc.
