Finding Books for Your Project

St. Olaf and Carleton will have many books of interest to the study of specific resistance and social movements. Here are a couple of ideas for finding them:

Elements of your search
Consider the individual elements that make up your search idea and combine them. For example:

     •  movements: suffrage, civil rights, anti-nuclear, environmental
     •  groups: women, immigrants, ethnic groups
     •  concepts: race, gender, censorship, discrimination

Topic + Region/Nationality/Ethnicity

     •  refugees and Syria*
     •  "United States" and "military intervention" and "Latin America"
     •  "environmental activism" and China

Find primary sources in the catalog by adding such terms to your search as:

     • sources
     • letters
     • diaries
     • personal narratives
     • autobiography / biography
     • correspondence
