Data Sources
- ArcGIS Living AtlasBrowse an online catalog of premade data - all data resources on this site are available for use in ArcGIS Online. Make sure to log into your St. Olaf ArcGIS account to use the data.
- ESRI: Racial Equity and Social JusticeMapping resources (data, tools, interactive maps) that specifically address racial equity and social justice.
- Minnesota Geospatial CommonsMinnesota Geospatial Commons is a central hub for geospatial data produced by the State of Minnesota that is available to the public. This site was formally called the DNR Data Deli. Contributions to this site are made by multiple agencies and state departments in Minnesota. Data is available in multiple forms - including orthophotography and elevation data - and can be downloaded in multiple forms.
- Social Explorer - MapsSocial Explorer combines census data with mapping. You can use the site in two ways: create interactive demographic maps using census data online or download ready-to-use Census data that can be connected to your own geodata in GIS. Social Explorer makes it easier to find, download, and interact with census demographic data - including the creation of online maps.
The St Olaf College Libraries have purchased the Professional Edition of Social Explorer for the use of the St Olaf community. It will require you to authenticate with your St Olaf login if you access it from outside our domain.

Using Census Bureau Data
How do I find GIS Data from the US Census Bureau?
The US Census Bureau provides GIS border data and other types of geospatial information - this information may not always appear easily in the search on the Census Bureau site. For tips on working with Census data, check the Google Doc and links below:
