Zoom H2 Audio Recorder
Powering the recorder
Using batteries
-
Turn the power OFF, and remove the battery cover.
-
Insert batteries.
-
Close the cover.
Using the AC Adapter
-
Connect the cable to the USB Port.
-
Connect the adapter into a power outlet.
Installing an SD Card
-
After turning the power OFF, open the SD Card slot cover.
-
Insert the card into the slot.
-
To remove, push the card further into the slot, then pull it out.
-
Turning On/Off
Turning On
-
Slide down the Power button.
-
Upon turning on:
-
“No SD Card!” — Confirm that an SD Card is correctly inserted into the recorder.
-
“Card Protected” — Slide the lock switch on the card to OFF.
-
“Invalid Card” — Use a different card or format the card.
Turning Off
-
Slide the Power button until “Goodbye, see you!” appears on the screen.
Setting the Date and Time
-
Press Menu.
-
Use the PLAY button by moving it up and down to navigate the Menu, and go to SYSTEM. Press the PLAY button to confirm.
-
Select DATE/TIME.
-
Using the PLAY button to select the setting and change the values.
-
Use the PLAY button the select OK and press PLAY once more.
Display
Recording Modes
-
Mid Side (MS) Stereo Mode
-
Records the sound ahead and to the left and right of the microphone.
-
-
XY Stereo Mode
-
Records sound with mics at a 90 degree angle.
-
-
2ch and 4ch Surround Modes
-
Captures sounds in all directions using both MS and XY mics.
-
-
2ch mixes the signals from the MS and XY mics.
-
4ch records the signals from the MS and XY mics separately.
Selecting the Recording mode
-
Turn the dial at the top of the recorder so the the triangle points to the desired mode.
-
Adjusting the S level
-
Use the play button to adjust the stereo width by pushing up or down.
-
-
Using MS-RAW mode
-
This allows you adjust the stereo width after recording.
-
Hold down PLAY until RAW appears.
-
Setting the Recording Format
-
Press Menu.
-
Use the PLAY button by moving it up and down to navigate the Menu, and go to REC. Press the PLAY button to confirm.
-
Select REC FORMAT.
-
Use the PLAY button to select the recording format.
-
Use WAV for higher quality audio and MP3 formats if you want to save space.
-
Recording Manually
-
Adjust the Mic Gain by turning the dial located on the right side of the device.
-
Press the record button so start recording.
-
Press the PLAY button to add a mark.
-
Press the record button again to stop recording.
-
One file can have at most 99 marks.
-
If a file exceeds 2GB, recording will continue on a new file that will automatically be created.
Playing Back Recordings
-
Press PLAY.
-
Use UP/DOWN (PLAY) to go between marks and recordings.
-
Press PLAY to pause and restart playback.
-
Use the volume button to adjust volume.
-
Press and hold MENU to return to the home screen.
