Canon EOS C100 Cinema Camera Quick Start Guide

Turning On

  • Spin the dial located to the left of the viewfinder to CAMERA.
  • If you wish to view your video files, turn the dial to MEDIA.

Battery Charging

  • The battery can be charged with the kit’s battery charger OR use the DC IN port to power the camera directly by connecting it to the kit’s charger.

Sound Setting Options

  • Attach the XLR handle to the camera body with the cold shoe (metal slider) at the top of the camera body. Make sure to secure this connection with the XLR handle’s screw.
  • This handle has a built in Stereo-Microphone which you can toggle on by switching the AUDIO IN slider on the end of the XLR to INT (Internal).
  • To use an external XLR microphone, you can connect said microphone to the XLR handle and toggle to this option by switching the AUDIO IN slider on the end of the XLR to EXT (External).
  • For both options you can monitor your sound input on the bottom right of the LCD screen as long as you have the Waveform feature toggled off. You could also plug in wired headphones to monitor the sound manually.
  • Exporting Media You can export media files from 3 places on the EOS C100. Media Files can be exported from the HDMI port, the Micro USB port, or directly from the removed SD card.

Deleting Recordings

  • To completely wipe the camera, go to the Menu, the OTHER FUNCTIONS tab.
  • Select INITIALIZE MEDIA then choose the SD card you want to wipe. This may take a few seconds.
  • Built-in ND Filters Use the dial on the left side of the camera to toggle the built in ND filters to block sunlight.

Adjust Main Settings (includes ISO, White Balance, and shutter)

  • Press down the joystick on the handle of the camera. This should highlight one of your main settings on the LCD screen.
  • To adjust the desired setting, move the stick up or down. To switch settings, adjust the stick left or right.
  • Color settings can be accessed through the Custom Picture button on the left side of the camera.
  • Color settings should be CP9 if you plan to color grade and do editing work after shooting. If not, then select CP7 EOS Std, which will give you a better color profile straight away.
  • You can lock CP9 mode in settings, so if you are having trouble changing this, check the camera doesn’t say CP9 LOCKED.

Mounting Camera to Tripod

  • Gently screw the tripod into the camera base. Always have a hand on the camera body when removing it from a tripod to avoid dropping the camera.
  • The EOS C100 should work with all of the library’s larger tripods. Switching Lenses The EOS C100 comes with an 18-55mm lens in the kit, but is also compatible with the library's 24mm and 50mm camera lens .

Install New Lens

  • Press the release button on the same side as the camera body’s buttons.
  • While pressed, gently turn the lens counter-clockwise until you hear a click and the lens releases.
  • Once released, apply a new lens by lining up the white/red dots on the lens with their corresponding markers on the camera body and gently twist clockwise until you hear a click.
