Features
- Focal length of 70-200mm offers a lot of flexibility
- 70mm is good for portraits, events, or tight framing
- 200mm is good for wildlife, sports, and capturing distant objects
- Fast 2.8 aperture allows for excellent low-light performance
- Sharpness and clarity from its zoom range
- High-speed autofocus system
- SteadyShot image stabilization to reduce camera shake
Attaching and Detaching the Lens
- Attaching
- Remove the rear lens cap and camera body cap
- Align the white index on the lens barrel with the white index on the camera, then insert the lens into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it locks
- Do not press the lens release button on the camera when mounting the lens
- Remove the front lens cap
- Detaching
- Attach the front lens cap
- While holding down the lens release button, rotate the lens counterclockwise until it stops, then detach the lens
Using the Tripod
*When using a tripod, attach it to the tripod collar of the LENS, not to the tripod receptacle of the camera
- Changing vertical/horizontal position
- Loosen the tripod collar ring-locking knob on the tripod collar and rotate the camera in either direction
- The camera can be quickly switched between vertical and horizontal positions while maintaining stability when using a tripod
- Tighten the tripod collar-locking knob firmly after the camera position is set
- Detaching the Tripod Collar
- When not using a tripod, remove the lens from the camera
- Rotate the tripod collar-locking knob counterclockwise to loosen it
- While pressing the tripod collar release lever, detach the tripod collar in the direction of the arrow
- If you detach the collar without removing the lens from the camera, the collar may hit the camera body or accessory
- After the collar is removed, the tripod screw holes are exposed on the tripod collar ring
- DO NOT attach a tripod or monopod to the tripod screw hole or you will damage it and be unable to attach the tripod collar to the tripod collar ring
- Attaching the Tripod Collar
- Slide the tripod collar to the mount of the tripod collar ring until it clicks
- Rotate the tripod collar-locking knob clockwise firmly to set it
- Make sure it is set firmly otherwise the lens may fall off of the tripod collar
Attaching and Detaching the Lens Hood
- The lens hood should come already attached, but if not then follow these instructions
- Align the red line on the lens hood with the red line on the lens, then insert the lens hood into the lens mount and rotate clockwise until it clicks into place
- To remove the lens hood, while holding down the hood release button on the hood, rotate the lens hood counterclockwise
Focus Settings
- Switch Auto Focus/Manual Focus
- These can be switched on the lens using the slide focus-mode switch
- For AF photography, both the lens and the camera should be on AF settings
- For MF photography, either or both the camera or lens should be set to MF
Using SteadyShot
- SteadyShot Switch
- ON: compensates for camera shake
- OFF: does not compensate for camera shake (recommended when shooting with a tripod)
- SteadyShot Modes
- MODE1: compensates for normal camera shake
- MODE2: compensates fir camera shake when panning moving objects
- MODE3: compensates for camera shake to minimize framing disturbances; helps you keep track of fast and irregularly moving subjects (i.e. sports games)
