Turning On/Off

  1. Press the Mode button to turn on.
  2. Press and hold the Mode button for 3 seconds to turn off.

Battery Charging

  1. Unlock the door latch and flip the door open.
  2. Connect the camera to a USB charger or computer using the included USB-C cable.
    1. It takes about 3 hours to fully charge.
  3. Unplug the cable and shut the door when charging is complete.

Using the Touch Screen

  • Tap to select an item and turn a setting on/off.
  • Swipe left or right to switch between video, photo, and time lapse modes.
  • Swipe down from the edge of the screen to open the dashboard when your camera is in landscape orientation.
  • Swipe up from the edge of the screen to see the last photo or video you captured and access the Media Gallery.
  • Press and hold the capture screen to turn on and adjust exposure control.

HERO Mode & 360 Mode

  • Hero mode — Lets you shoot traditional videos and photos with either the front or back lens.
  • 360 mode — Captures everything around you but you can choose which lens view will be shown on the touch screen.

Exporting Media

  1. Download and install the GoPro Player for Mac or Windows.
  2. Remove the SD card from the camera.
  3. Insert the card into an SD card reader or adapter.
  4. Plug the card reader into your computer’s USB port or insert the adapter into the SD card slot.
  5. Copy the files to your computer.
     

Using the GoPro

  • Press the shutter button to start recording/stop recording.
  • Three Capture Modes
    • Video (default) —  Includes standard, full frame, activity, cinematic, and slo-mo presets.
    • Photo — Includes photo, burst, and night presets.
    • Timelapse — Includes timewarp, star trails, light painting, vehicle light trails, time lapse, and night lapse presets.
  • QuikCapture — The fastest and easiest way to power on the GoPro and get the shot.
  • Recording Video with QuikCapture
    • With the camera off, press the shutter button. Then press it again to stop recording and turn off the camera.

Mark your favorite moments in videos or photos by pressing the Mode button during recording or playback

Video Modes

  • Hero Mode — Shoots traditional videos with a resolution of 1080p or 1440p.
  • Horizon Lock (Shortcut) — Automatically straightens out the shot by keeping the level even if the camera is rotated while filming.

Photo Modes

  • Photo — Use this mode to take a single photo in either HERO or 360 mode.
  • POWERPANO — Takes a 270 degree distortion free panoramic photos without having to scan the horizon.

Photo Settings

  • Timer — Set up a 3 to 10 second timer for your photo.
  • Protune — Gives you manual control of advanced settings including color, ISO limit, exposure and more.
  • Lens (HERO Mode) — Choose the best digital lens for your shot.
  • Horizon Lock (HERO Mode + POWERPANO) — Captures panoramic shots with a level horizon even when the camera is tilted.

Playing Back Your Media

  • Gallery View — Gives quick access to all of the videos and photos stored on the SD card.
  • From the playback screen, tap the 9 block symbol.
  • Swipe up to scroll through your media then tap the photo or video to see it in full screen view.
  • Tap the check mark to select files. Then tap “<” to go back.

Mounting the GoPro

  1. Flip the folding fingers down into the mounting position.
  2. Interlock the folding fingers on the camera with the mounting fingers on the buckle.
  3. Secure the camera to the mounting buckle with a thumb screw.
  4. Attach the mounting buckle plug.
    1. Flip up the mounting buckle plug.
    2. Slide the buckle into the mount until it clicks into place.
    3. Press the plug back down so that it sits flush with the buckle.
