BenQ Short-Throw Projector
Connecting Devices
- Video Source Devices (only need one)
- Connecting Audio
- The projector has built-in mono speakers
- Any stereo audio input is mixed into a common mono audio output through the projectors speakers *the built-in speakers will be muted when the AUDIO OUT jack is connected
- Connecting Smart Devices
- HDMI to Micro USB cable
- Connect the cord to the device and the projector
- Switch to the HDMI/MHL input source
- HDMI to Micro USB adaptor and a HDMI cable
- Connect HDMI cable to the projector and the adaptor
- Connect the Micro USB output socket on your smart device
- Switch to the HDMI/MHL input source
- HDMI to Micro USB cable
Starting the Projector
1. Plug the power cord into the projector and into a power outlet
- Check that the POWER indicator light is orange after power has been applied
2. Press the power button on the external control panel
- As soon as the lamp lights up a “Power on Ring Tone” will be heard if it is activated (depends on who changed the settings last)

The POWER indicator light flashes green and stays green when the projector is on

Start-up takes about 30 seconds

if necessary rotate the focus ring to adjust the image clearness
3. Switch all of the connected equipment on
4. The projector will start looking for input signals
- You can also press SOURCE on the external control panel to select your desired input
Adjusting the Projected Image
- The projector has a quick-release adjuster foot and a rear adjuster foot
- For the quick-release adjuster foot press the PUSH button pull it out manually to the desired height
- For the rear adjuster footer screw it out to fine-tune the horizontal angle
- Auto Adjusting the image
- In some cases you may need to optimize the picture quality
- Press AUTO, in 3 seconds the auto readjustment function will re-adjust aspects for the best picture quality *only available when PC signal (analog RGB) is selected
- Fine-tuning the image size and clarity
- Adjust the projected image size using the zoom ring
- Sharpen the image by rotating the focus ring
- Correcting Keystone (image is wider at top or bottom)
- If you want the projector to automatically correct image keystoning, make sure the Auto Keystone function in the DISPLAY Menu is On
- To manually correct:
- Press the ^ /ˇ on the external control panel
- Press ^ to correct keystoning at the top of the image
- Press ˇ to correct keystoning at the bottom of the image
Switching the Input Signal
- Press SOURCE on the external control panel
- Press the up or down arrow on the external control panel until your desired signal is selected then press MODE/ENTER *the projector can be connected to multiple devices at the same time but it can only display one full screen at a time
Selecting a Picture Mode Press
- MODE/ENTER on the external control panel repeatedly until your desired mode it selected
- Bright Mode: maximizes the brightness of the projected image; suitable for environments where extra-high brightness is required such as in well lit rooms
- Presentation Mode: designed for presentations; the brightness is emphasized in this mode to match PC and notebook coloring
- sRGB Mode: maximizes the purity of RGB colors to provide true-to-life images regardless of brightness setting; most suitable for viewing photos taken in an sRGB compatible and properly calibrated camera, and for viewing PC graphic and drawing applications such as AutoCAD
- Cinema Mode: appropriate for playing colorful movies, video clips from digital cameras or DVs through the PC input for best viewing in a blackened or low light environment
- 3D Mode: appropriate for playing 3D content and 3D video clips
Adjusting the Sound
- Press the volume control buttons on the external control panel to adjust the volume
- Muting the sound Press
- MENU/EXIT and then the right and left arrow buttons on the external control panel until the SYSTEM SETUP:Advanced menu is highlighted
- Press the down arrow on the external control panel to highlight the Audio Settings and press MODE/ENTER
- Highlight Mute and press the left or right arrow on the external control panel to select On
Shutting Down the Projector
- Press the power button on the external control panel and a confirmation message will appear
- Press the power button a second time; the POWER indicator light flashes orange, the projection lamp shuts down, and the fans will continue to run for 90 seconds to cool down the projector
- Once the cooling process finishes, a “Power Off Ring Tone” will be heard; the POWER indicator light is a steady orange and fans stop
- Disconnect the power cord from the power outlet
